Our History
Lion-Tiger Katol, a prominent mosquito coil brand in the Philippines, has been safeguarding households from mosquito-borne diseases like Dengue and Malaria for several decades. Manufactured by Greencoil Industries Inc., the brand has established itself as a trusted name in mosquito repellents, growing exponentially since its humble beginning in 1957-1958.
To illustrate the brand’s growth, Lion-Tiger expanded in 2008 with the creation of the scented coils (which now include lavender, citrus, and floral fragrances) after heeding the requests of loyal customers. Moreover, in 2013, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recognized Lion-Tiger Scented Mosquito Killer-Lavender and Lion-Tiger Coil Mosquito Killer as registered and safe products, underscoring their compliance with health and safety.
In the same year, Greencoil Industries Inc. raised concerns about the proliferation of unregistered, potentially hazardous mosquito coils in the Philippine market. Brands such as Baoma and Suning were identified as lacking FDA registration, prompting the agency to issue advisories against their use due to health risks. The FDA emphasized the importance of purchasing only registered mosquito coils to ensure consumer safety. This proactive stance by Greencoil highlights Lion-Tiger Katol’s commitment not only to product quality but also to public health advocacy in the Philippines.
